📜 Content

Atago Shrine, built in 1603, is a shrine dedicated to the deity of fire prevention and fire extinguishing. It is said that the fire god also possesses the power of "kindling fire," so in addition to fire protection and disaster prevention, it can bless love fortunes (romantic endeavors). Furthermore, it is believed to support the prosperity of printing, computer-related work, and business. The shrine is located atop Atago Mountain, the highest natural hill in Tokyo's 23 wards, standing at 26 meters tall. Here, you can fully experience the beautiful nature throughout the four seasons, forgetting the hustle and bustle of the business district. Before entering the shrine, visitors must ascend a very steep stone staircase known as "Shusse Ishidan (男坂)," which has become famous for a story from the Edo period about a samurai successfully riding his horse up the steps. Additionally, visitors can also take the elevator located on the east side of the Atago Mountain tunnel to reach the shrine.
