📖 Details
Hōman Shrine (宝満宮竈門神社) is located in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and has a history of over 1,350 years. The shrine is dedicated to "Tamayorihime no Mikoto," the mother of Japan's Emperor Jimmu, who is said to be a deity that protects beauty and blesses marriage. As a result, it is well-known as a love shrine that is effective in fostering good relationships in the area.
Kamadō Shrine is built at the foot of Mount Hōman, surrounded by tranquil and beautiful nature. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom, and in autumn, the leaves turn vibrant colors, offering stunning natural scenery throughout the seasons. The peak of Mount Hōman stands at an elevation of 829 meters, where the upper shrine (上宮) of Kamadō Shrine is located. It takes about two hours to hike from the main shrine at the foot of the mountain to the upper shrine at the summit. Every year, many hiking enthusiasts are attracted to enjoy the experience of climbing after visiting the shrine. Since 2020, it has also been regarded as a sacred site for the Japanese anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," drawing large numbers of fans for pilgrimage, which has led to a surge in ema (絵馬) related to "Demon Slayer" and sparked discussions.
