Nagato Yumoto Onsen has a history of over 600 years, and it is said to have been discovered under the guidance of the heavenly gods. In 2020, the Hoshino Group opened a series of ryokans called "Kai Nagato" in this representative town of Yamaguchi Prefecture. The concept embodies the samurai culture of the Edo period, resembling a "feudal lord's tea house." It stands by the tranquil banks of the Onsen River, surrounded by beautiful greenery. The guest rooms are filled with local characteristics, referred to as "local rooms." The elevated bedrooms resemble the beds where feudal lords would rest, and the lattice-style fences exude a noble aura. They also incorporate local traditional crafts such as Tokushima washi paper, Hagi-yaki pottery, Hagi glass, and Ouchi lacquer, creating a contemporary stylish atmosphere while maintaining the original warmth. The onsen features two indoor baths and one outdoor bath, including the higher temperature "hot spring" and the "mild spring" that flows directly from the source. The ryokan's onsen is characterized by its strongly alkaline water that seeps from the rock strata, with a thick, lotion-like quality. Passing through the "Akebono Gate" from the courtyard leads to the onsen street. While experiencing the different natural sceneries of the four seasons, guests can also enjoy the pleasure of strolling.

Hoshino Resorts has created a hot spring hotel brand themed "Royal Road, Yet Innovative." It combines a traditional sense of history with contemporary stylish interiors. Guests can experience beauty-enhancing hot springs sourced directly from the spring. The semi-private dining restaurant offers seasonal kaiseki cuisine. Activities such as "morning exercises" and "adult ink wash painting games" are also held.
