📜 Hotel Details
Zhuang Qi is located in the UNESCO World Heritage-designated village of Suganuma, known for its gassho-zukuri architecture. This traditional gassho-zukuri inn has a history of 200 years. The two-story building stands about 11 meters tall, with the high-ceilinged first floor serving as guest room space. With a limit of 10 guests or 2 groups per night, visitors can quietly savor the charm of this traditional structure and enjoy a leisurely stay.
There are a total of 4 guest rooms, each ranging from 6 to 10 tatami mats in size. The Japanese sliding doors can be removed according to the number of guests, allowing two connected rooms to be combined into a larger room. Across from the inn, there is a large bathhouse where guests can wash away the fatigue accumulated from their travels. The meals enjoyed in this traditional setting are also something to look forward to. Guests can gather around a hearth reminiscent of ancient stories, enjoying local dishes that change with the seasons, such as salt-grilled rock fish, Gokayama tofu, tempura mountain vegetables, sesame-dressed angelica, and homemade pickles. The rice cooked with melted snow water from the mountains is also exceptional.
Additionally, staying guests can visit the interior of the thatched roof on the second floor. This space was historically used for producing refined potassium nitrate and paper for the Kaga Domain, showcasing the architectural structure that combines natural materials to form the roof.
