On an expansive area of approximately 43,500 square meters, a complex facility has gathered shopping malls, cinemas, theaters, entertainment facilities, and two hotels. Colorful buildings of various facilities line both sides of the 180-meter canal known as "Canal," hence the name "Canal City." More than just shopping and entertainment, the biggest feature of Hakata Canal City is the fun that can be felt just by being there. The entire area is divided into five zones: the "Canal" area has benches by the water for relaxation, the "Underwater Garden" features natural rocks creating an interesting space where water sprays up from the ground, and the "Crystal Canyon" is a high atrium that stretches from the basement level 1 to the ground level 4, reminiscent of a canyon. Additionally, there is the "Sun Plaza," which hosts a fountain show, and the "Starlight Garden," where illuminated water columns create a dreamy atmosphere at night, each offering different exciting performances.
