About Imperial Hotel Tokyo

A luxury hotel with a history of over 130 years, it has hosted distinguished guests from around the world.

Details

The Imperial Hotel was built in the 23rd year of the Meiji era (1890) in response to the Meiji government's push for Westernization, welcoming overseas guests with the spirit of Japanese hospitality. The founders of the hotel were several business elites of the time. For the first 19 years after its opening, Eiichi Shibusawa, one of the founders, served as the first president and was responsible for the hotel's management. Today, approximately 2,000 trained staff members across various fields, including bellhops, receptionists, and housekeeping, provide sincere Japanese hospitality services to guests. The hotel is beloved by travelers worldwide for its top-quality service and warm hospitality. Located on the first floor of the main building, the casual restaurant "PARKSIDE DINER" offers its long-standing signature pancakes, which have maintained their popularity over the years. Since being added to the menu in the 28th year of the Showa era (1953), the recipe has undergone slight adjustments while preserving the taste of the Imperial Hotel. The pancakes are freshly cooked on a dedicated iron plate and are served in the same style of stacking three pancakes for over 60 years.
