📝 Introduction

Enjoy a hidden hot spring retreat in the lush forest.

📖 Details

In ancient times, it was a hot spring used by the Ainu people for hunting or healing. Now, it is known as "Kaminoyu Onsen," a ryokan famous for its secret hot springs in the southern region of Hokkaido. The owner of the ryokan discovered the source spring on the day of the 25th wedding anniversary (Silver Wedding) of Emperor Taisho, and named it Ginkon-yu (Silver Wedding Bath). As a result, it is regarded as a bath that brings marital harmony, attracting many travelers celebrating their silver anniversaries. The ryokan is situated in a mountainous forest, covering an expansive area of about 10,000 tsubo, featuring five private source springs. Guests can enjoy the renowned hot springs in the outdoor baths and large public baths. There is a walking trail within the premises that takes about an hour to complete, with hidden hot springs featuring unique characteristics, such as outdoor baths surrounded by giant rocks and trees, and foot baths. Visitors can enjoy soaking while crossing suspension bridges over rivers and taking in the diverse garden landscapes. The guest rooms, filled with a warm Japanese ambiance, offer views of the lush green mountains, autumn leaves, and snowy landscapes throughout the seasons. The ryokan also takes pride in using seasonal ingredients, and the carefully prepared dinner is another major attraction of this accommodation.
