Tobaya Ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn located at the foot of Hikone Castle, welcoming countless travelers from all over the world for the past 140 years since 1880. Across from the inn is Hanashoubu Street, designated as an important traditional building preservation area. Upon entering the fragrant inn, guests are greeted by nostalgic noren curtains, lanterns, woodblock prints, and decorative items including frames adorned with paintings by Ii Naosuke, the lord of the Hikone Domain in Omi Province, all of which reflect the inn's long history and rich cultural heritage.
All 12 guest rooms in the inn retain the charm of the Edo period, exuding understated elegance and taste.
