🏨 Watarase Onsenわたらせ温泉
About Watarase Onsen
The signature attraction is the hot spring known as the "Beauty Skin Spring."
Details
Located in the Kumano Hongu Onsen area, the Watarase Onsen features two uniquely styled accommodations and a ryokan with ten types of hot spring baths. The "Sasayuri(ささゆり)" is surrounded by expansive grasslands and primarily offers spacious Japanese-Western rooms. In contrast, "Yamayuri(やまゆり)" provides traditional Japanese-style rooms in a tranquil atmosphere.
All hot springs are sourced from natural hot spring springs. The transparent, colorless sodium bicarbonate spring (baking soda spring) is known as a beauty bath. The large outdoor bath, surrounded by magnificent scenery, is open to both guests and day visitors for a single soak. Guests can also enjoy soaking under a starry night sky. Additionally, there are private bathhouses and a large bath exclusively for guests at "Sasayuri," allowing for free choice. Various paid yukatas are available, so guests might consider changing into a yukata for a stroll through the hot spring town.
The cuisine features an abundance of mountain delicacies and seafood, including Kumano beef and whale sashimi, which are definitely worth savoring.
