🏨 Wazukijyu Kakunodate

📝 Introduction

Traveling through time to a Japanese inn transformed from a "warehouse"!

📖 Details

Located in Kakunodate, known as "Little Kyoto," this Japanese inn is a converted warehouse with over 100 years of history. The inn offers three types of rooms, each available for exclusive rental. The "Nishimiya Family Samurai Storehouse" is filled with the atmosphere of samurai life and features touchable samurai artifacts; the "Nishimiya Family Gakko Storehouse (ガッコ)" was originally a storage space for pickles (in the Akita dialect, pickles are referred to as "Gakko"). The interior is decorated with tools used in pickle-making, with decorations inspired by pickle barrels scattered throughout; the "Hanmono Storehouse" has been transformed from a warehouse that stored kimono fabric. This unique space, which might be mistaken for a sales area, is adorned with Japanese lampshades resembling weaving spools, showcasing thoughtful details in the bedroom. Stepping into any room instantly makes one forget daily life and feel transported to the past. Breakfast bento served in the rooms features rice and miso from Akita Prefecture, while dinner can be enjoyed at nearby recommended eateries. This accommodation plan allows guests to experience local culinary culture, making it a delightful option. Check-in takes place at the "Folkloro Kakunodate Hotel," located right next to JR Kakunodate Station. It is just a few steps away from the warehouse, allowing for a leisurely stroll along the street.
