The luxurious hot spring ryokan, Yamagami Onsen Yukan-en, is located in the heart of Hanamaki Nan Onsen Gorge in Iwate Prefecture. Nestled among picturesque mountains and forests, the ryokan offers a tranquil retreat where guests can leisurely enjoy peaceful moments while gazing at the distant mountains from their rooms. The entire building was crafted by skilled carpenters specializing in the construction of shrines and temples, showcasing their exquisite craftsmanship in every detail, such as the patterned ceilings and other decorations.
The ryokan consists of the main building, a guest room wing, and a new guest room wing, with a total of 72 guest rooms. There are four types of Japanese-style rooms of varying sizes (ranging from 9 to 15 tatami mats), Western-style rooms with bedrooms, and luxurious suites with living rooms and sunbathing areas to accommodate various lodging needs.
Inside the ryokan, there are four hot spring facilities, all utilizing natural hot spring water sourced directly from the spring, allowing guests to fully enjoy the thick, rich waters of Yamagami Onsen. Among these, the outdoor hot spring is particularly spacious, covering an area equivalent to 50 tatami mats, providing an excellent view of the starry sky. The indoor hot spring also offers great visibility, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the natural scenery of the Fuzakawa River. At night, the new outdoor hot spring creates a dreamy atmosphere with lighting. Additionally, the bathing hours for day visitors are from 10 AM to 9 PM.
The ryokan also offers day trip packages that include meals prepared with local Iwate specialties and fresh ingredients, as well as access to the hot springs and relaxation rooms.
