📜 Content

Kamakura Shrine is a famous shrine dedicated to the deity of "Happō-shū," revered for its ability to eliminate disasters that come from all directions and from bad days, bringing prosperity and happiness to its believers. Since ancient times, it has been respected as a guardian deity of the Kanto region. It is said that this shrine was devoutly worshiped by historical rulers of Japan, such as Minamoto no Yoritomo. Behind the main hall is a Japanese garden called "Shin'yakuyama Shinen," which is only accessible to worshippers who have participated in prayers. This pond-and-strolling style garden features a museum and a tea house, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing scenery of nature throughout the seasons, as well as to savor matcha and traditional Japanese sweets. During the New Year's period, the shrine's main gate is adorned with "Aomori Nebuta decorations," and a nighttime lighting event is held. The "Happy Eight Rice Cakes" (Happō Mochi), named for their auspicious meaning associated with "Happō-shū" for warding off disasters and bringing good fortune, are a popular souvenir that can only be purchased at Kamakura Shrine.
