📝 Introduction

A hidden hot spring resort built above a valley, accessible only by sightseeing boat.

📖 Details

This secret hot spring inn is said to have been a place where defeated samurai of the Heike clan sought refuge and healed their wounds from the Genji clan in ancient times. The inn is built on a steep cliff overlooking the Shōkawa Gorge, famous for its emerald green river, and the only way to access it is via the "Shōkawa Gorge Sightseeing Boat," which operates only 3 to 4 times a day. Known for its hidden accommodations, it attracts many travelers from both domestic and international locations. The inn features a variety of spacious and scenic baths, including an outdoor bath rich in natural charm and a large public bath, as well as a terrace bath (for men) that is close to the water's surface. Guests can enjoy the natural hot springs of the Shōkawa while taking in the beautiful scenery of the gorge. The guest rooms, facing the river, include standard Japanese-style rooms, spacious Japanese-Western rooms, and special rooms with outdoor baths, allowing guests to relax amidst the enchanting views of the gorge. For those who feel that enjoying the scenery from the lobby or outdoor bath is sufficient, there are also rooms facing the mountains. Dinner features kaiseki cuisine made with fresh seafood caught from Toyama Bay, seasonal vegetables, and Koshihikari rice, all sourced from the local area. Guests can choose from three different levels of meals, and there are also various local sake and wines brewed in the area available.
