About B-speak
Yufuin (由布院) is a popular specialty store for cake rolls.
Details
Opened in 1999, at a time when cake rolls were not well-known. It was planned and operated by the long-established ryokan "Sansou Mouraitou" in Yufuin. As a pioneer of cake roll specialty shops, it sparked a lot of interest, and even over 20 years after its opening, it remains a popular store with long lines frequently forming.
The signature "P-Roll" originated from the desire to create a daily snack for local children. The ingredients used are only four types: flour, sugar, eggs, and fresh cream. Made with extremely simple ingredients, each one is carefully handcrafted. The subtle elegant sweetness and fluffy, soft texture create an exquisite taste. Special attention is paid to achieving the best balance between the fresh cream and the cake, making each bite delicious until the very end. This rare cake roll, with a shelf life of only one day, is sold exclusively in-store with no delivery, making it a must-try dessert when visiting Yufuin. It is highly recommended to make a reservation for those who absolutely want to try it.
Additionally, the "Earl Grey Cheese Cake," infused with Nordic cream cheese and the aroma of Earl Grey tea, is also quite popular.
