Urashima Hotel is located near the World Heritage Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine in the Nanki Katsuura Onsen area, covering a vast area that almost encompasses the entire island, making its scale truly impressive. It consists of four buildings: the Main Building, the Sunrise Building, the Mountain View Building, and the Beach Building, with a total of 404 guest rooms, making it the largest in Japan in terms of room count. The hotel is built on the Wakanoura Peninsula, which separates Katsuura Port from the Pacific Ocean, and guests must take a turtle-shaped shuttle ferry from the dock to reach it. *On days when the shuttle ferry is not in operation, guests can take a shuttle bus from the parking lot. The most attractive feature of the hotel is its two massive cave hot springs, known as "Bōkai-dō" and "Genbu-dō." These cave hot springs, formed by natural erosion, provide a mysterious bathing experience, allowing guests to enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean while soaking. The hot spring water is a sulfur-containing saline spring, with a plentiful flow. In total, there are five large public baths, including the cave hot springs. Katsuura Port is famous for being a major tuna hub, with the highest tuna catch in Japan. During dinner time, there is a tuna cutting performance, where guests can enjoy freshly sliced tuna.
