📜 Hotel Details

Koyasan was founded by the Great Master Kōbō Daishi Kūkai in the 7th year of the Kōnin era (816). In this sacred place with a 1200-year heritage, "Fukuchi-in," which has an 800-year history, is famous for being the only temple lodging in Koyasan with a natural hot spring. It enshrines "Aizen Myōō," who is prayed to for the fulfillment of blessings and the realization of wishes. There are separate bathing areas for men and women, and guests can enjoy the natural hot spring at any time during their stay. The outdoor bath is available from 3 PM to 8 PM. Morning prayers starting at 6 AM are open for anyone to participate freely. The shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) made with Koyasan's specialty ingredients features local seasonal vegetables, Koyadofu (Koyasan tofu), and Kaneyama-ji wasabi, all of which are highly praised for their deliciousness. Another highlight is the three gardens created by the renowned landscape architect Mirei Shigemori, a representative of the Showa era. These gardens, featuring heavy stone arrangements and deep green moss, present a modern aesthetic with varied styles. The temple also houses relics of the Ii clan, known for the Sakurada Gate Incident, as well as artifacts from various daimyōs and ancient artworks from the Nara period.
