📖 Details

The eye-catching and stylish hot spring inn "Ginsan Onsen Hachimuro no Yado Fujiya" is designed by the architectural master Kengo Kuma. Established during the Edo period, Fujiya is a long-standing hot spring inn that was renovated in 2006. The three-story building features a wooden exterior that blends into the streetscape, while the interior uses bamboo screens called "renchōkō" and colored glass as partitions, creating a modern and fashionable space. There are only 8 guest rooms, all facing the Ginsan River. There are three types of rooms: Type A, which includes a Japanese-style room or Western-style room with a wide corridor; Type B, which features a Japanese-style room with a wide corridor; and Type C, which consists of a Japanese-style room with a veranda. Each room is equipped with a washbasin and restroom, and Type A also has a private bath. The rooms are designed with handmade washi paper and soft lighting to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, allowing guests to enjoy leisurely moments. The inn does not have a large public bath; instead, it offers five uniquely styled private baths, including the "Bamboo Bath" and "Cedar Bath." These baths are available for exclusive rental, allowing guests to fully enjoy the renowned Ginsan Onsen without worrying about time, which is a major feature of this inn. Additionally, kaiseki cuisine made with local Tohoku ingredients is served, creating an extraordinary experience from inside to outside and providing a unique lodging experience.
