Founded in the first year of the Man'en era (1860), this long-established tea shop specializes in Uji tea and has been operating under the name "Gion Tsujiri" in Gion since Showa 23 (1948). In addition to top-quality Uji matcha, they also sell other tea varieties such as gyokuro and hojicha. Inside the store, there is a striking giant decoration shaped like a tea whisk used for preparing matcha. The space is filled with the rich aroma of tea and showcases a wide array of signature tea products, from the premium matcha used by the tea master to various tea bags for casual drinking. In addition to tea leaves, there are also Japanese and Western-style sweets made with tea, such as matcha cream puffs called "Tsujiri no Tsuki," as well as a rich lineup of matcha skincare products. The products are packaged in stylish cubic designs, making them perfect as souvenirs. The irresistible rich flavors of matcha soft serve ice cream, matcha drinks, and various Uji teas suitable for sipping while taking a stroll are all available for takeout or dine-in. On the 2nd and 3rd floors, you will find the "Charyo Tsujiri," which often has long lines.
