Mikuriga Pond Onsen (みくりが池温泉) is an accommodation for travelers visiting the "Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route" and climbers planning to ascend nearby mountains. It is located about a 15-minute walk along the mountain path from the nearest Murodo Station and Murodo Bus Station, offering a breathtaking view of the Tateyama mountain range. At an elevation of 2,410 meters, it is the highest natural hot spring inn in Japan. Due to heavy snowfall, it is only open from mid-April to late November each year. There are two types of rooms available: six individual guest rooms and shared accommodations. There is a limit on the number of guests, so it is recommended to make reservations on the official website as early as possible if you plan to stay during the climbing season. The onsen uses the source from the representative scenic spot of Tateyama, "Jigokudani," featuring a 100% flowing hot spring with no added water or heating, which has received high praise from onsen enthusiasts. The simple acidic spring has a strong sulfur scent, is milky white and cloudy, and has a smooth and delicate texture. Guests can relax and unwind from the day's fatigue while soaking in the hot spring and enjoying the natural scenery outside the window. Meals are provided in the form of Japanese cuisine, featuring a variety of mountain produce as well as abundant seafood. Each dish is filled with seasonal ingredients, and guests can also order local specialties such as "Toyama Bay deep-sea fish gengeno karaage" and "homemade firefly squid in soy sauce" for an additional charge.
