🎎 Mount Fuji Taiko Festival

📝 Introduction

The first Taiko Festival in Japan is held at Mount Fuji, Japan's number one.

📖 Details

The event is held at the "Fujisan Jukuu no Mori" (富士山樹空之森) in the Fuji Mountain Exchange Center, aimed at selecting Japan's top taiko performance festival. It started in 1986 and will enter its 37th edition in 2024. Every year, it takes place over six days in late July, lasting for two days. Since 2010, it has also hosted the "National High School Taiko Koshien" competition for high school groups. Notably, since the second edition, the "Great Taiko Japan Championship" has been held. Taiko performance masters from across the country gather to showcase various performance techniques. The sight of performers striking the world's largest taiko, measuring an astonishing 3.77 meters in height, is breathtaking! The grand atmosphere is synonymous with the Fuji Mountain Taiko Festival. The preliminary rounds take place on Saturday, with the finals on Sunday, featuring performances of original pieces lasting between 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 3 minutes, delivering emotionally stirring displays. The three key elements of heart, technique, and body significantly influence scoring, and participants give their all to deliver the best performances. The event is located at the foot of Mount Fuji, where the sound of the taiko and the dignified presence of the performers allow attendees to re-experience the beauty of Japan.
