🏨 Nol Kyoto Sanjo Hotel
🎨 Hotel Gallery
📝 Introduction
Transforming a traditional 京町家 (Kyomachiya) that is over a hundred years old into a uniquely charming hotel.
📖 Details
The building, over a hundred years old, has been transformed into a hotel from a traditional Kyomachiya that served as the sales office for the Japanese sake brand "Kinjishi Masamune" during the Meiji era. The sign of "Kinjishi Masamune" still hangs at the entrance, and the preserved old charm makes it hard to recognize as a hotel.
The newly constructed accommodation wing features a tsukubai (a small garden), creating a strong Kyomachiya atmosphere. Each of the 48 guest rooms is equipped with a cypress bath, allowing guests to enjoy a relaxing soak enveloped in the fragrant wood. There are also mini kitchens and washer-dryer machines available. The hotel name "nol" is derived from the first letters of naturally, ordinarily, and locally. In line with the concept of "exploring the local area in your own style, as if it were part of your daily life," it provides facilities suitable for medium to long-term stays. The hotel does not have a restaurant, encouraging guests to venture out to taste local delicacies or shop for ingredients at Nishiki Market to cook for themselves, thus experiencing the charm of Sanjo in Kyoto.
The "Machiya Lounge," exclusive to guests, offers a welcome drink of Kinjishi Masamune sake. Guests can also enjoy coffee from "Unir," a coffee roasting shop located in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto.
