📖 Details
Ryokan Sakaya (さかや) is located in Nozawa Onsen, a hot spring area with over 700 years of history, making it one of Japan's top onsen destinations. Originally established as a sake brewery during the Edo period, it is now a long-established ryokan that has been passed down through eighteen generations.
The property features a natural hot spring source, and to prevent the loss of mineral content, the temperature is adjusted without adding water. The men's large bath, "Taka no Yu," is constructed in a traditional bathhouse style by court carpenters, creating a slightly dim atmosphere during the day that is rich in onsen charm. The women's large bath, "Tsuki no Yu," utilizes the warmth of wood to create a relaxing bathing experience. Both large baths offer three different temperature pools: hot, warm, and lukewarm, along with an outdoor bath that is full of natural beauty, allowing guests to enjoy the renowned "beauty skin hot spring."
Various room types are available, including tatami mat rooms, Western-style rooms with beds, and apartment-style independent rooms suitable for multiple guests. Guests can savor dishes made from local ingredients, visit 13 different public baths, and enjoy leisurely strolls through the onsen town.
