Located on the slopes of the Azuma Mountain Range, this hot spring area has a history of 400 years. Together with "Zao Onsen" and "Shirabu Onsen," it is known as one of the "Three Great Hot Springs of Oshu." Situated at the entrance of the Bandai Azuma Skyline, it is a highly recommended sightseeing spot.
The Takayu Onsen has long been a popular hot spring resort, famous for its sulfuric waters characterized by a unique scent and milky white cloudy appearance. It is one of the highest concentration sulfur hot springs in Japan, known for enhancing skin moisture and repair, earning it the title of "Beauty Skin Hot Spring." Along the hot spring street, there are six accommodation facilities and one public bath where visitors can enjoy 100% natural hot spring water that is neither diluted nor heated. The hot springs in the inns and hotels, as well as the public bath, come from different sources, attracting many repeat visitors with their varying temperatures and mineral content.
From the open-air baths, guest rooms, and within the Bandai Azuma Skyline vehicles, guests can enjoy the seasonal scenery of the Azuma Mountain Range. The rich natural beauty is not to be missed, including hiking routes leading to the 30-meter-high Fudō Waterfall from the hot spring street.
