🎨 Attraction Gallery
📝 Introduction
It offers a panoramic view of the ruins of the city of Tottori and is also a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
📖 Details
During the Warring States period, the old site of "Tottori Castle" was built using the rugged terrain of Kusumosuyama. In the Edo period, the Tottori Domain constructed Tottori Castle at the foot of the mountain as a political stronghold. The remaining stone walls and the tenshu (main keep) are designated as national historic sites. In 2006, a reconstruction plan was initiated to recreate the appearance of the Edo period, and in 2021, the main gate, the Nibōjū Bridge (Ōte Bridge), and the Nakagomon Front Gate (Ōtemon) were restored. There are future plans to rebuild the structures at the foot of the mountain, attracting significant attention from history enthusiasts and castle fans.
The ruins of Tottori Castle are now known as "Kusumosu Park," a scenic spot that offers a panoramic view of Tottori City and the Tottori Sand Dunes. The park is also one of the top cherry blossom viewing spots in the prefecture, with 240 cherry trees of the Somei Yoshino variety blooming every spring. The beautiful scenery of the stone walls of the castle ruins intertwined with cherry blossoms is enhanced during the blooming season with nighttime illuminations and food stalls, creating a lively atmosphere. The area is also a well-known spot for viewing autumn leaves, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery framed by Kusumosuyama in the fall.
