🎌 Tang Mushi Main Store - Senbon Tang Mushi

📝 Introduction

As tender and moist as skin just out of the bath, this is the classic souvenir from Hakone, selected as a designated specialty of Kanagawa Prefecture.

📖 Details

Senbon-yu Mochi is the signature product of "Hakone Meika Yumochi Honten Senbon," a traditional Japanese sweets shop located in Hakone Yumoto that has been in business for over 70 years. Made from domestically produced glutinous rice flour and egg whites, the soft and tender mochi skin encases small pieces of yokan, resembling the rocks in the Hayakawa River flowing through Hakone. With a hint of yuzu fragrance, it represents a quintessential snack of Hakone—Yumochi. Due to its exceptionally soft texture, Yumochi is also referred to as "Japanese-style cotton candy," and its delicate feel evokes the image of skin that is soft and moisturized after soaking in a hot spring. The fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth experience has led Yumochi to be designated as a local specialty of Kanagawa Prefecture. In addition to the branch located in front of Hakone Yumoto Station, there is also the main store in the Waterfall Street area, as well as locations in "LUSCA Odawara," and some stores in "Takashimaya" and "SOGO Department Store" where you can purchase this Yumochi.
