📖 Details

Nara Prefecture is the largest producer of mosquito nets, with early production accounting for 70% of the national output. Yoshida Mosquito Nets was established in the 10th year of the Taisho era (1921) and is a long-established specialty store with a history of nearly a century. At that time, there were over a hundred mosquito net shops in the Naramachi area, but now only Yoshida Mosquito Nets remains, lovingly maintained by the third-generation owner, Yoshida Katsutoshi, who is dedicated to preserving Nara's traditional mosquito net culture. The products sold are made from materials like hemp and ramie. In addition to mosquito nets that prevent insects, there are various lifestyle goods such as noren (fabric dividers), shawls, placemats, and cleaning cloths. Among these, the product that has made the name Yoshida Mosquito Nets known throughout Japan is the "Naramachi Cleaning Cloth." With nearly 20 colors to choose from and affordable prices, many fans buy them in bulk, making it the store's best-selling item. It has excellent water absorption, does not shed easily, and dirt can be easily removed by washing. The elegant products make for great souvenirs from Nara.
