About Akihabara Radio Kaikan
It brings together Akihabara-style shops and is a landmark in front of Akihabara Station.
Details
Since its opening in 1950, it has long been a famous landmark in front of Akihabara Station. This building has undergone multiple renovations and expansions, and was temporarily closed in the summer of 2011 for remodeling. After three years of construction, it finally reopened in 2014 to much anticipation.
The building has 10 floors above ground and 2 floors below, housing over 30 specialty stores related to hobbies, anime, manga, games, and figures, as well as the largest trading card store in Akihabara. Additionally, there is a Beer Hall and a convenience store. Various events such as sales promotions, product launches, gaming competitions, photo sessions, and photography events are held in the event space on the 1st floor entrance and the 10th floor.
During the summer, a "Rooftop Open" event is held on the normally closed rooftop, allowing the public to visit. It offers a rare opportunity to overlook the Akihabara district from the rooftop of the 10-story building, which is very popular among fans.
