🛍️ Aso Confectionery Workshop Tanoya

📝 Introduction

The sign features the "TANOSYU Cream Puff" filled with rich and creamy custard.

📖 Details

The Western-style dessert shop "Aso Confectionery Workshop Tanoya (たのや)" is located in front of Aso Shrine's shopping street and is currently run by the third-generation owner and pastry chef, Masafumi Tano. The signature item is the "TANOSYU Cream Puff (たのシュー)," made by Mr. Tano, who is very particular about fresh milk. The cream puff is topped with rich almond flakes, and the inside is filled with custard cream made with pure fresh cream. A single bite releases the rich custard cream in a delightful burst. Although it uses rich fresh cream with a fat content of 48%, Tano's exceptional skill results in a light and refreshing texture. Additionally, there are various unique Western-style desserts, such as the "Strawberry Cheese Daifuku" (seasonal), which features strawberries paired with fresh cream and cream cheese, all wrapped in a thin, translucent skin. The strawberries used in the desserts are sourced directly from farms, selecting varieties like "Saga Hoinoka" and "Koi-mi" from Aso. There is a corner of the shop set up as a café, making it a perfect spot to take a break before or after visiting Aso Shrine. The Vienna coffee topped with fresh cream is definitely worth trying.
