📝 Introduction
The representative winter light show event in Shibuya features a new highlight, the giant balloon "Aoi no Doukutsu - THE SNOW DOME," which is not to be missed.
📖 Details
The "Blue Cave" is a romantic blue light display that stretches approximately 900 meters from Shibuya Park to Yoyogi Park along the row of zelkova trees during the Christmas season. Initially held in Nakameguro in 2014, the event moved to Shibuya in 2016. Excluding the years it was not held in 2015, 2020, and 2021, it has attracted over 15 million visitors to date.
The event's name is derived from a cave on the island of Capri in southern Italy that leads to the sea, where the water glows with a blue light, making it a very popular tourist attraction. Approximately 600,000 lights are used to create an entire space filled with blue light, and the dreamy atmosphere is comparable to the real Blue Cave. The 67 zelkova trees on Shibuya Park Avenue and 60 trees in Yoyogi Park are each adorned with 5,000 colorful lights, creating a stunning display once illuminated.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Shibuya's representative lighting event will introduce a new highlight at the Yoyogi Park zelkova grove venue—a giant balloon called "Blue Cave – THE SNOW DOME -" that glows and plays images. The imagery is themed around snow globes, adding a beautiful atmosphere to the Christmas celebration.
