Daikanyama HILLSIDE TERRACE (also known as Daikanyama Collective Housing) is located on the old Yamate Street and is a complex facility featuring multiple buildings that house shops, restaurants, galleries, and more. Completed in 1969, the first phase has been standing for over 50 years, and the building's design remains fresh and has become a model for surrounding structures, exemplifying urban development in Daikanyama and beloved by the public.
The architectural style is the work of the renowned architect Fumihiko Maki, who also designed the Makuhari Messe and the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. The complex consists of eight buildings from A to H, along with two Annex buildings, Hillside Plaza, and Hillside West. It not only serves as a residential and office space but also features ground-level shops selling trendy clothing, groceries, hair salons, and more. Additionally, there are numerous dining options, including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and food stores.
It also includes a members-only salon, a library, and art spaces, regularly hosting markets and concerts. It is widely recognized as a hub for the dissemination of Daikanyama's culture and trends.
