The sky lantern event held on specific days from January to February each year involves lighting lanterns with wishes written on them and releasing them to float into the night sky. Originally, the act of igniting and releasing "天燈" (sky lanterns) was used as a means of communication and prayer ritual. Today, this dreamlike scene has gained immense popularity, with many regions around the world hosting sky lantern events. The biggest feature of the "花卷巡星之夜" (Flower Roll Starry Night) is that it takes place at a winter ski resort. Against the backdrop of a snowy landscape, the sight of sky lanterns slowly ascending into the night sky creates an even more beautiful and enchanting atmosphere. The opening ceremony and fireworks are also not to be missed. This event is exclusively for guests staying at 花卷 (Hanamaki) 12 hot spring inns (with some exceptions). Those wishing to participate should register at their respective accommodations. Shuttle services are provided from the lodging facilities, so there’s no need to worry about transportation to and from the venue. After the event, you can also relax and warm your cold body in the hot springs.
