HEP FIVE is known as the "shopping paradise for young people in Osaka." "HEP" is an abbreviation for "Hankyu Entertainment Park," where "Entertainment" not only means "entertainment" but also includes the idea of "hospitality." HEP FIVE was completed in November 1998, aiming to create a place that people would want to visit frequently, embodying a spirit of warm hospitality. Initially, the bright red Ferris wheel that appeared in the city became a hot topic as "the world's first air-conditioned Ferris wheel integrated with a building." Since then, HEP FIVE has become a landmark in Umeda.
In the atrium area at the entrance on the first floor, there is a whale artwork created by artist Tatsuya Ishii, which can be viewed up close from the upper escalator area. Inside, there are about 170 shops popular among the younger generation, including casual restaurants and trendy brand stores. The top floor features HEP HALL, where music and theatrical performances are occasionally held.
The Ferris wheel, which offers a panoramic view of Osaka city, has remained very popular since its opening. The ride costs 600 yen per person, and children under 5 ride for free. Additionally, there is a commemorative photo service available for 1,000 yen, which is very popular among couples, families, and tourists of all ages.
On the fourth floor, there are four completely private nursing rooms equipped with hot water dispensers specifically for preparing breast milk, making it convenient for mothers to warm milk for their little ones. There are also unisex lounges with baby beds that can be used as changing tables, as well as free stroller rentals, providing very thoughtful and detailed services.
