Kuki City is home to Japan's famous "Ayame" (Iris) and "Lavender" flower fields. In the Ayame Garden, located at the site of the Ayame Castle ruins, approximately 16,000 iris plants are cultivated. Around the Ayame Comprehensive Branch Office, there are lavender gardens and lavender embankments, while Shirasagi Park features about 11,000 lavender plants. From mid to late June, the best viewing period showcases a beautiful and enchanting blue world, attracting many visitors for sightseeing and photography. During the annual "Ayame and Lavender Blue Festival," guests can not only admire the beauty of the flowers and enjoy their delightful fragrance but also taste delicious snacks like "Lavender Ice Cream" and "Lavender Buns." The lavender ice cream is particularly popular and often sells out before the afternoon. In the shopping area of the venue, visitors can purchase fresh flowers with stems and lavender-themed merchandise, as well as enjoy local delicacies from various small stalls. Additionally, the event features a variety of vibrant activities, including music performances and folk shows like the lion dance "Mizusasara."
