📖 Details

The museum showcases treasures passed down through generations of the Maeda family of the Kaga Domain, as well as numerous works by writers from Ishikawa Prefecture. It opened in 1958 (Showa 34) at the Ishikawa Prefectural Traditional Industry Craft Museum, and due to its large scale and diversity, it relocated to its current location in 1983 (Showa 58). The museum has nine exhibition rooms, displaying over 3,900 collection pieces, including ancient art, modern paintings, sculptures, and crafts, which are rotated based on themes. One of the museum's features is that visitors can see different new works with each visit. Additionally, the permanent exhibition in the first exhibition room features the vibrant national treasure "Iroe Kiji Kōro" created by Edo period ceramic artist Nonomura Ninsei, as well as the important cultural property "Iroe Taka Kiji Kōro." On the second floor entrance hall, there is a café planned by pastry chef Hiroaki Tsujiguchi from Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture. It is recommended to take a break here while visiting the museum and enjoy the deliciousness of authentic desserts.

(1) Take the Kanazawa Furatto Bus Kikusakawa Line from JR West Japan or IR Ishikawa Railway "Kanazawa" Station, and get off at "National Crafts Museum / Prefectural Art Museum," then walk to your destination. (2) Take the Hokuriku Railway Bus from JR West Japan or IR Ishikawa Railway "Kanazawa" Station to "Dewamachi," and walk for about 5 minutes.
