🎎 Kaga Embroidery IMAI - Kaga Embroidery Experience

📝 Introduction

Feel the joy of completing a pattern in every stitch.

📖 Details

"Kaga Embroidery" is a type of embroidery characterized by luxurious patterns stitched onto silk fabric. In the 14th century, embroidery techniques were introduced to Kanazawa with the arrival of Buddhism. By the 16th century, it was commonly used to adorn the armor of feudal lords, as well as the kimono of women in the court and princesses. In recent years, it has been applied to everyday items such as embroidered dresses, shawls, accessories, and home decor. Kaga Embroidery utilizes richly colored threads, including silk, gold, and silver threads, with all patterns hand-stitched. The distinctive techniques include the three-dimensional and vivid "relief technique," and the "gradient color technique," which showcases delicate color transitions. In Ishikawa Prefecture, the only place where the traditional technique "Kaga Embroidery IMAI" is preserved, one can experience embroidery under the guidance of traditional artisans. The completed works can be processed on the same day into keychains, hair ties, or charms, making them unique treasures that belong solely to the individual.
