🛍️ Osaka Station City

📝 Introduction

A "city" that brings together train stations, department stores, commercial facilities, entertainment facilities, hotels, office buildings, service facilities, and plazas.

📖 Details

Osaka Station City opened in 2011 as a "city" that brings together a transportation hub, department stores, commercial facilities, entertainment venues, hotels, office buildings, service facilities, and plazas. It celebrated its 10th anniversary in May 2021 and is a large-scale commercial facility that is quite stylish and cutting-edge. Osaka Station City consists of three main areas: the "North Gate Building," which houses the LUCUA department store and LUCUA1100; the "South Gate Building," which is home to the Daimaru Umeda store; and the "Osaka Station and other areas." By July 2019, the number of visitors had exceeded 1 billion. There are over 600 shops in Osaka Station City, reportedly about three times the number of commercial facilities in the Umeda area. Additionally, there are 53 cafes within the facility, where many people often gather or take a break, making it quite lively. It also features the "Osaka Theater," the largest cinema in the Kansai region, with 12 screens and up to 2,564 seats, conveniently connected directly to Osaka Station. The "Time Space Plaza" on the fifth floor of the North Gate Building is a dome-covered plaza, with the "Golden Clock" and "Silver Clock" at the north and south ends serving as landmarks and popular meeting spots in Osaka. On the 14th floor of the North Gate Building, the "Sky Farm" grows fruit trees such as apricot and cherry trees, as well as herbs like rosemary and thyme, along with Namba vegetables and strawberries, creating a lush urban oasis. The "Water Clock" in the South Gate Plaza was selected as one of the "12 Most Beautiful Clocks in the World" by CNN.com in 2014. Visitors can enjoy the water art that changes with the passage of time. The entire area is filled with healing spaces, making it a beloved sanctuary for many.
