SOMPO Museum of Art, as a new cultural landmark in the Shinjuku area, serves as a hub for the dissemination of various cultural arts. The museum frequently hosts special themed exhibitions that are rich and diverse. The collection includes approximately 630 works, prominently featuring Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" and works by the Japanese Western-style painter, Tōgō Seiji. A ceramic replica of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" is displayed in front of the museum, attracting the attention of passersby. The first floor serves as the entrance hall, the second floor houses surrounding shops and relaxation spaces, while the third to fifth floors are dedicated to exhibition halls.
Highlights
You can see Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" in person. In 2020, it moved to a newly built museum building and reopened. The exterior of the architecture features soft curves, making it very elegant. All exhibition rooms are designed to be accessible.
