About Haruna Mountain Cable Car

Enjoy a 3-minute aerial stroll in a panoramic view with zero blind spots.

Details

The cable car from the shores of Lake Haruna to the summit of Mount Haruna takes about 3 minutes. It was opened in 1958 and in 1996, it became Japan's first cable car capable of carrying 15 passengers in two connected cabins. As it gently moves through the abundant nature of Mount Haruna, it allows travelers to enjoy a scenic aerial stroll amidst the vast and magnificent landscapes. From the observation point on the left side of the summit station, one can gaze out at the Tanigawa Mountain Range, Mount Asama, and the Kanto Plain, all offering stunning views. On clear days, even Mount Fuji and the Yatsugatake Mountain Range can be seen. There are gazebos, tables, and benches available for visitors to relax in the fresh air of the highlands. A 5-minute walk from the summit station along the approach leads to the "Haruna Fuji Shrine." The deity enshrined here is Konohanasakuya-hime, who is believed to bless good marriages and safe childbirth. It is said that if you purchase an ema (votive tablet) at the Haruna Plateau station at the foot of the cable car and tie it at the summit shrine, your wishes will come true.
