🎨 Shopping Gallery
📝 Introduction
From traditional crafts to food, snacks, and more, this is a souvenir shop that brings together "Osaka's Good Things."
📖 Details
MAIDOya, located in the 2-chome area of the "Tenshinbashi-suji Shopping Street," which stretches approximately 2.6 kilometers and is known as "Japan's longest," is situated between 1-chome and 7-chome. The exterior features eye-catching lanterns and has a history of over a thousand years, symbolizing the famous "Tenjin Matsuri," Osaka's most renowned summer festival. MAIDOya was established in 1946, and its name comes from the Osaka dialect "MAIDO," meaning "thank you for everything." The owner, who grew up in Tenmangu, opened this shop with the hope that "the good things from Osaka can be known by everyone!" It specializes in selling Osaka-themed products.
The store displays a variety of items that represent "Osaka's good things." From "Temmangu Kiriko" glass cups and large "Osaka tinware" glass cups to "Osaka's paper-mache dolls," there are many traditional crafts that are particularly popular among foreign tourists. Additionally, there is a specialty store for hand towels with a 90-year history called "NIJIYURA," soaps from "Kimura Soap Industry," and washable "double-sided washi paper masks" produced in Izumi-Otsu City, known for its fiber industry. Although these are everyday items, they can also serve as souvenirs or personal travel mementos. Furthermore, the shop offers local beers and red wines, as well as a variety of products made from seasonings and snacks created using koji. Both tourists and locals can find charming products here. If you're unsure about what to gift, it's recommended to visit MAIDOya.
While MAIDOya also engages in online marketing, it is conveniently located near "Osaka Tenmangu" and "Tenmangu Shofukutei," and a short walk will take you to many of Osaka's famous scenic spots, including the retro atmosphere of "Nakanoshima." You can stroll around the area after exploring the shopping street.
