📜 Hotel Details
The Nanten-en Onsen Ryokan is a building that was relocated from the "Shiotou" annex, which was previously located in Ohama, Sakai City, Osaka. It was designed by Mr. Kingo Tatsuno, who has overseen numerous Western architectural designs, and has been designated as a national tangible cultural property.
The ryokan offers three types of rooms: the special guest rooms in the annex, Japanese-style rooms facing the garden, and traditional Japanese guest rooms. In 2015, a new room called Seiryutei, featuring an outdoor bath, was added to the special guest rooms, allowing guests to enjoy the pleasure of soaking in a cypress wood bath in a private space overlooking the clear stream of the Amanogawa River. There are seven Japanese-style rooms facing the garden, including "Tsuru," which has a gourd-shaped garden pond in front of the corridor, "Take," and "Horai," which accommodates two generations of families. The "Horai" room offers a view of the garden set against the backdrop of the Kongō-Katsuragi mountain range. The six traditional Japanese guest rooms, filled with the retro charm of the early Shōwa period, include "Hanagura," "Shinonome," and "Rokkasen."
The garden, showcasing the beautiful colors of the four seasons, is a major highlight of the ryokan. Covering approximately 3,000 tsubo, the garden presents various beautiful scenes as the seasons change. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom; in summer, fireflies sparkle in the night sky; in autumn, the maple leaves turn red; and in winter, camellias and tsu trees bloom. The bright red fruits of the Nanten bamboo also inspired the name "Nanten-en." The ryokan is about a 40-minute train ride from Namba in Osaka, providing a special time away from the hustle and bustle of the city, surrounded by nature.
Dinner features exquisite dishes made with seasonal local ingredients, with a meticulous pursuit of excellence in everything from the ingredients to the cooking and tableware. Breakfast includes healthy Japanese dishes such as omelets and freshly steamed rice. The natural radon hot spring is also one of the attractions of the hotel. It is said that the Amano Onsen originated during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period and is considered the oldest hot spring in Kawanai, Nagano City. Guests can relax and rejuvenate in the lush large public bath.
In addition to accommodation options, there are day-use plans that allow guests to dine in their rooms and enjoy the hot springs, which can be chosen according to their travel purposes.
