📖 Details
VIERRA is a commercial facility brand primarily located under the elevated bridges and station buildings of JR West Japan. The name VIERRA is a coined term combining the Spanish words "vida" (life) and "tierra" (earth), conveying the meaning of "facilities that bring convenience to daily life and are familiar to people."
With the elevation of JR Nara Station, "VIERRA Nara" opened in 2010, featuring two floors covering 5,300 square meters and housing 22 stores, including dining and shopping options. It offers a variety of shops convenient for locals, such as supermarkets, 100-yen stores, and bakeries, as well as a specialty store for Nara's famous sake, showcasing over 200 types of sake products. Additionally, there are souvenir shops that cater to tourists with a wide range of products.
The interior space combines the historic street image of the well-known attraction "Naramachi" with the elegance of Nara. The architectural design is inspired by the torches used in the "Mizutori" ceremony at Todai-ji's Nigatsu-dō, reflecting the splendor of the ancient capital of Nara. It is highly recommended to visit when sightseeing in Nara.
