The former residence site of the old Iwakuni domain lord Yoshikawa has been renovated into a park, which is vast and filled with various historical heritage sites, including the Yoshikō Shrine, the Nishikikaku designated as a tangible cultural asset of Iwakuni City, and the ruins of a samurai residence from the Edo period. It has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Historical Parks in Japan."
Throughout the park, you can find flower beds, Japanese gardens, and the inner moat near the former Yoshikawa residence, as well as the free-to-visit "Yoshikō Iris Garden" and "Shiroyama Iris Garden," all showcasing charming seasonal flowers. Notably, the Kintai Bridge spans the clear Nishikigawa River, where 1,500 cherry blossom trees bloom beautifully in spring, making it a must-see during the season.
In the center of the park, there is a large fountain, and the arch created by the water sometimes produces rainbows. There are many benches throughout the park, making it a great place to relax.
