The fireworks festival is held in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, famous for the "Dewa Sanzan." It takes place on the Saturday of the third week of August each year, and the 32nd festival in 2025 will also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the merger of the new Tsuruoka City in 2005.
The Akagawa Fireworks Festival is renowned for its creative fireworks competitions, featuring top fireworks artisans from across the country showcasing their skills, making it a favorite among fireworks enthusiasts nationwide.
Approximately 12,000 fireworks will be launched during the event, with the maximum width of the music-synchronized fireworks reaching 700 meters. The panoramic display of wide-format fireworks is breathtaking, leaving unforgettable memories for every visitor.
