🎎 Kyotango Ryugu "Maizuru Crab" Cooking Experience

📝 Introduction

Using extremely fresh crabs to provide a cooking experience with local characteristics.

📖 Details

The Matsuba Crab Cooking Course is an experiential activity where you can try cooking the famous fisherman dish from the Kansai region, "Mothers' Matsuba Crab Rice." The event takes place at the inn "Umashi Yado Totoya" in Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture, using female Matsuba crabs caught at the famous crab-producing area, the Tango Peninsula's Maizuru Fishing Port. Female Matsuba crabs, also known as Kōbako crabs, are smaller in size but have a particularly rich crab flavor. The taste of the crab roe (outer roe) is exceptionally crisp, and the crab roe found inside the shell (inner roe) is a delicacy known for its exquisite flavor.

⭐ Highlights

You can taste the exceptional Matsuba crab, which is considered one of Kyoto's finest. Although it is "fisherman's cuisine," the other ingredients used in the experience are also quite exquisite. Enjoying it with local sake from Tamba enhances the deliciousness of the crab even further.
