🎎 Arita Pottery Market

📝 Introduction

The most lively and active 7-day event in the pottery capital is in Arita.

📖 Details

Arita, known for its over 400-year history of porcelain production, holds a regular event during the Golden Week. In 1896, local pottery shops organized a "Clearance Sale" to clear out stock and items with minor defects, which has evolved into the event we see today. It has now become Arita's most bustling event, entering its 121st year in 2025. During the event, various types of pottery shops line the streets surrounding the area, creating a lively atmosphere. From spring new products to high-end items, as well as unique works by young artists, a wide array of ceramic products come together, enveloping the quiet ceramic capital in a unique festive ambiance. Each shopping district also hosts great value activities and limited-time sales. Nearby cafes and restaurants set up stalls, allowing visitors to enjoy delicious food while shopping. Since 2020, the "Web Arita Pottery Market" has also been launched, enabling people from outside or those at home to shop happily.
