About Bansho Cape Nature Park

It is said to bring abundant luck! A coastal energy spot that you can walk to near the sea.

Details

At the Bansho Cape Natural Park, you can enjoy a distant view of one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, "Kaimondake," while the vast and boundless East China Sea stretches before you. During low tide, you can walk along the rough and uneven rocks to the coastal area, where you might spot small fish and shellfish in the shallow waters. The rocks have formed circular shapes due to erosion by the sea, and the areas where seawater accumulates are known as "Umi no Ike" (海の池), which is said to have once been the entrance to the Dragon Palace. The surrounding waters are famous as a habitat for seahorses, which are revered as symbols of good fortune, and there are several attractions related to seahorses. The "Yoshikane" bell was built for visiting tourists, and the number of times it is struck is used to pray for good relationships, smooth childbirth, and health. It is also recommended to experience the "Shell Ema," where you write your wishes on a noble sea fan clam ema and offer it. Additionally, Japan's only seahorse breeding facility (Seahorse House) is located within the park, allowing visitors to observe the fascinating ecology of this endangered species up close, which has received high praise from tourists.
