๐ Restaurant Details
Charlie's Tacos (ๅคๅนธๅฏฟ) is located near the U.S. military base, at the corner of "Park Avenue Street," which once thrived as a commercial center. When Okinawa was still under U.S. jurisdiction, this restaurant had already obtained the "A SIGN" business license recognized by the U.S. military.
The signature dish is "Charlie Rice (CHARLIE RICE)," a creative dish that features specially steamed white rice topped with taco filling and drizzled with a unique sauce. It is said that the inspiration for this original dish came from the frequent sell-out of taco shells, leading staff to use the leftover filling with white rice as employee meals. Later, in response to customer requests to "eat it with rice," it was officially introduced. Charlie Rice is also sprinkled with minced meat and two types of cheese, perfectly highlighting the delicious flavors of the meat. The classic "taco" uses a chewy glutinous wheat that is very satisfying to chew and has a great texture. Customers can freely choose from various filling combinations, including spicy, beef, chicken, and nuts.
To accommodate the robust foreign patrons, the chairs in the restaurant are very sturdy. The walls are adorned with customer messages from both within and outside the prefecture, proving that it has been loved by many for a long time.
