🍜 Dining Place An (Semboku City, Akita Prefecture)

📝 Introduction

A restaurant where you can taste the local cuisine of the historically rich "Nyuto Onsen" area.

📖 Details

Nyuto Mountain is located at the border of Akita Prefecture and Iwate Prefecture. The seven hot springs distributed at the foot of the mountain are known as "Nyuto Onsen Village," which has a history of over 350 years. The landscape, dotted with thatched-roof buildings, remains, making it one of the most beloved hot spring villages that preserve Japan's original scenery. At the hot spring accommodation "Tsuru no Yu Bekkan Yama-yado" in Nyuto Onsen Village, guests can enjoy local delicacies around a hearth in the dining area "An." Popular menu items include salt-grilled iwana (mountain trout) and yam hot pot. The yam hot pot is a local dish from the Tazawako area of Nyuto Onsen Village, featuring a miso-flavored stew with sticky "yams" formed into dumplings and a variety of vegetables. There is also a rich selection of local sake, including "Secret Hot Spring Beer," made with beech yeast from the globally widespread Shirakami Mountains, as well as the junmai sake "Hideyoshi" from Tsuru no Yu and Akita's rice shochu, all of which are highly recommended.
