🛍️ Drift Ice Glass Museum流氷硝子館

The Flowing Ice Glass Museum (流冰硝子館) is located near the Sea of Okhotsk in Abashiri City, Hokkaido. The building was originally a fish paste factory, which was later transformed into a glass museum for the manufacturing and sale of glass products. As soon as you push open the door, you'll see the interior filled with a dazzling array of glass products. From everyday utensils, vases, and glassware to accessories designed with flowing ice motifs and animal-shaped goods, the rich variety of products adds more color to your lifestyle. The exquisite beauty of each item showcases the superb craftsmanship of artisans, making you want to hold them and appreciate their details. The Flowing Ice Glass Museum not only offers beautiful glass products but also promotes an environmentally friendly philosophy, which is another point worth recommending. The glass products in the museum are made from recycled discarded fluorescent light tubes, known as "Eco Pirika," and are produced using environmentally conscious methods. The name "Eco Pirika" is a combination of "Eco" from Ecology and "Pirika," an Ainu word meaning correct or beautiful. Visitors can also participate in glass-making experiences (reservation required) at the museum, which features a café where you can relax and enjoy watching the artisans create glass.

There is a shop featuring a wide range of glass products. The glass items are made from eco-friendly materials, using recycled discarded fluorescent tubes known as "Eco Pirika." Next to the glass museum, there is a workshop for glass crafting. You can sign up for a glass-making experience. Additionally, there is a café on the premises.
