🛍️ Hakodate HAKOVIVAHAKOVIVA（ハコビバ）

The complex commercial facility "HAKOVIVA" is located in front of Hakodate Station. In addition to the well-known Hakodate Station Front Yokocho, it also houses a gym, convenience store, and various dining establishments. Many of the restaurants feature local businesses, attracting not only Hakodate residents but also numerous tourists. The entrance is adorned with a large gate and lanterns, with the character "誠" (sincerity) written on the lanterns, which is deeply connected to土方歳三 (Hijikata Toshizo), making it a popular meeting spot for dates. The Hakodate Station Front Yokocho, designed with a Showa era theme, features shops selling representative Hokkaido foods and souvenirs from Hakodate, as well as restaurants offering delicious ingredients from Hakodate and various parts of Hokkaido. The streets, filled with a nostalgic antique atmosphere of the Showa period, have small decorations of animals hiding around the corners. The rest area doubles as an indoor dining space, creating an ambiance reminiscent of the early waiting room at Hakodate Station. The black-and-white exterior evokes the entrance of a plaster warehouse, where you can find a famous dessert shop known for its bite-sized cheese cake, Mel cheese, and a long-established ramen shop claiming to be the original Hakodate ramen. Both popular and original shops are loved for their delicious offerings.
